Super League of Malawi (Sulom) says it is yet to determine a tentative kick off date for the 2020 TNM Super League.

The 2020 season was supposed to kick off on March 21, but it was suspended by FAM a day earlier after President Peter Mutharika declared a State of Disaster due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In its proposed Project Restart, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has set August 8 for the start of the season..

Actual date for Super League kickoff has not been set

But responding to a question on whether the Sulom executive committee (ex-co) meeting held last Sunday came up with a tentative date, general secretary Williams Banda said: “No date has been set. We are just waiting for communication from FAM.”

During its ex-co meeting, Sulom also reviewed gate management and ticket selling processes in line with the Covid-19 preventive measures as well as moving towards embracing e-ticketing.

Reads part of the statement: “Sulom shall commence a restructuring process in its set-up to fit its strategic direction of football professionalisation and commercialisation.”

The meeting also resolved to hold its eagerly-awaited annual general meeting (AGM) end August in Lilongwe.

“Among other agenda items at the AGM will be filling the position of legal advisor which fell vacant after Muhammad Selemani was elected in the Football Association of Malawi [FAM] executive committee,” the statement further reads.

Sulom has also announced that it will be  relocating its offices to Chilomoni Stadium with effect from July 1.
